The media agency lands title of ‘Most Effective Office of 2017,’ and 18 awards in two competitions

PHD’s creative spirit and innovative approach proved decisive in the region’s two most recent awards competitions, the Mobile Marketing Association Awards (The Smarties) and the Effies MENA.

In less than a month, the media agency received six gold awards, 11 silver trophies and four bronze awards for a range of clients. Its performance at the Effies MENA, where it bagged 10 awards, led PHD UAE to being named the “Most Effective Media Office of 2017”. A broad range of campaigns for brands as varied as OMO, Lipton, Lux, Puck, and Daman were awarded in the two competitions. For the first time, the MMA Smarties Awards, the world’s only global mobile marketing awards program honoring innovation, creativity, and success, opened a dedicated competition for MENA. PHD won eight of the 16 awards given on the night.

This year’s MENA Effies were the ninth edition in the region. The global Effie Awards have been promoting effectiveness in marketing communications by highlighting marketing ideas that work since 1968.

“We’ve always been an agency that thrives on challenging the norm, a sentiment we have also instilled in our clients when it comes to the aspirations they have for their campaigns. These awards, collectively, are another testament to our cutting-edge, tailored approach and the exceptionally gifted talent we have within the agency who are constantly pushing the boundaries of our success,” said Elda Choucair, CEO of PHD MENA.

“What makes these awards so valuable to us is that in their own way they totally represent what we stand for: effectiveness and digital innovation. We don’t produce campaigns with the ambition to win awards, focusing instead on stimulating the best consumer response possible,” commented Elda Choucair, CEO of PHD MENA. “Effectiveness is what drives us and, today, it’s often through a tailored approach in digital media that we get the strongest validation of our performance. Hence, we’re glad to have the Smarties provide a solid measure of the standard of work in the region. It’s hugely gratifying to have been rewarded with so many trophies in the inaugural edition.”

PHD (Omnicom Media Group) is leading in the transformation of media, having expanded its capabilities and services beyond the traditional planning and buying to that of creative content and social media for its clients. Combining idea generation and production of collateral in-house with digital expertise has proven successful and the way forward for the industry.

Having taken the digital turn earlier than most, PHD has already gone through its own process of transformation and is therefore ideally placed to advise its clients in their own evolution.  Future-focused rather than incumbered by legacy models, PHD is thriving in this tech-driven, data-laden environment.
